  • This week headlines – Foxconn acquires Sharp with USD3.5 billion; Sharp to invest in expanding AMOLED production; ZTE has a new president; ZTE might face penalties for violating American sanctions; Intel mobile division head steps down; Marvell CEIO and president step down;
  • Other information that deserves attention – Apple application to sell used iPhones in India is being opposed; ZUK is going back to Lenovo; Xiaomi invests in an Indian company; NVIDIA accuses Qualcomm of unfair competition; Samsung might launch a foldable phone next year;
  • Some numbers – Smartphone shipment this year 1.5 billion units, YoY growth only 7%; Apple iPhone shipment this year estimated 190-220 million units; Apple might reach 10 billion iPhone sales since launched in 2007 till Jul. 2017; Samsung smartphone shipment this year is around 320-330 million units; Huawei 2015 net profit USD5.7 billion; ZTE 2015 net profit CNY3.21 billion;
  • New products – Huawei P9 and P9 Plus features dual camera from Leica; All metal uni-body Meizu m3 note; vivo V3 and V3 Max features AK4375 audio chips; OPPO F1 Plus features 16MP front camera from Samsung.
